On December 8, the Zhangjiajie Global Geopark Project, which is a biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration project in northwest Hunan Province, officially started in Suoxi Valley Park. The project is the first ecological project to be started in the implementation of the Master Plan of Major Projects for the Protection and Restoration of National Important Ecosystems (2021-2035) and the biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration of Zhangjiajie, the key area of Wuling Mountain, and the province's "dual". The project construction scale is 25,739 mu, with a total investment of 12.24 million yuan. After completion, it will further improve the ecological environment of Zhangjiajie Global Geopark, enhance forest quality, improve ecosystem stability, and consolidate the foundation of biodiversity protection.

Participating in the groundbreaking ceremony were Yan Ziyi, researcher of Afforestation Department of Hunan Forestry Bureau, Gao Hongbiao, Director of Zhangjiajie Forestry Bureau, Li Tingting, Deputy director of Wulingyuan District People's Government, Wulingyuan District Development and Reform Commission, Finance Bureau, Forestry Bureau, community sub-district offices, project design, construction, supervision and other relevant persons in charge. It is reported that Zhangjiajie City Xiangnorthwest biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration project with a total area of 127.055 million mu, involving four districts and counties in Zhangjiajie City, Hunan province, with a total investment of 347 million yuan, in two batch implementation. The project aims to create the province's "dual" ecological project "Zhangjiajie Sample", establish a benchmark for biodiversity protection and ecological restoration, and promote the high-quality development of forest resources in Hunan Province.
